  1. Yellowstone goes without saying.  We are located approximately 50 minutes south of the West Yellowstone Entrance to the Park.  You can also visit some of the less crowded areas of Yellowstone such as Cave Falls/Bechler/Cascade Corner area which is within a 30 minute drive from the cabin.
  2. Upper and Lower Mesa Falls should not be missed.  They are a short 15 minute drive from the cabin on the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway. You can picnic at the falls and make it a nice couple hour trip.
  3. Floating the river behind the cabin is also a must in the summer.  You can rent tubes from the local tire store in Ashton or bring your own. There is a boat put in 1 mile from the cabin on Fisherman’s Drive or you can just make your way down to the river and put in along the banks.  The float will end at Ashton Reservoir which is about 7 miles downstream and is accessible via Fisherman’s Drive via dirt road or you can go back to Ashton and take Highway 20 north toward Island Park until you cross the Henry’s Fork.  Fisherman’s Drive is the road immediately north of the river and Ashton Reservoir is on the west side of Highway 20 approximately ¼ mile west of Highway 20.
  4. Feed the fish.  There is a pull out on Highway 47 just north of where you turned off onto Fisherman’s Drive to get to Mesa Falls Lodge.  The pull out is basically the confluence of the Henry’s Fork, Warm River and Robinson Creek.  This area is closed to fishing/wading but a popular spot to stop and feed the fish.  You will want to bring a lot of cheap bread or puppy chow with you and you can literally have fish feeding out of the palm of your hand.  Be sure to take polarized sunglasses with you if you have them. It will be fun for the whole family.
  5. Harriman State Park is a beautiful park that offers numerous activities such as hiking, horse back riding, bird watching, mountain biking, and visits through some historic housing.  It is located off of Highway 20 about 20 minutes from the cabin.
  6. St. Anthony Sand Dunes – almost 11,000 acres and 15 continuous miles of clear white quartz sand from small to very large. The dunes are typically ranked in the top 10 places in America to ride. It offers deep bowls, smooth transitions and has one of the tallest and steepest naturally forming dunes in American – Choke Cherry Hill.  The best part is it’s only a short drive away just 8 miles west of St. Anthony.
  7. For those that like a more laid back adventure check out Yellowstone Bear World just outside of Rexburg, Idaho.  It is a drive through wildlife preserve that offers a petting zoo and amusement rides for kids.
  8. Rexburg Rapids is an outdoor water park in Rexburg Idaho. It offers water slides, lazy river, kids play area, climbing wall and more.
  9. Grand Teton National Park  is located approximately an hour’s drive away near Jackson Hole, WY.  Numerous activities abound in the park or Jackson Hole itself such as white water rafting, hiking, wildlife viewing and don’t forget all the shopping in Jackson Hole.
  10. Snowmobiling in the winter is amazing.  You can sled directly from the cabin to the trail system or explore incredible back country without having to trailer the sleds.  More information can be found on our snowmobiling page but it’s so fun it’s worth mentioning here as well.
